Last week, I announced a significant change in this blog. We need your help in writing the next book, Goodness Pays. You can help by providing proof statements from your point of view that demonstrate how goodness pays in leadership today. My promise is to share your examples to help the conversation grow.
Off to a good start
Here’s a great example: My American Business Journal column next week is about a terrific, small printing company: The MPX Group. Since joining the Good Leadership tribe five years ago, they adopted the mission of spreading goodness.
That led to a Goodness Committee, who is carrying out a customer and community-centric strategy of rewarding excellence, living generously, promoting fairness and spreading positivity. While other printers are shrinking, MPX is growing! As the signage here indicates, COO Scott DuRoche is building a culture of catching people doing good things, and rewarding that goodness.

That’s a proof statement worthy of mention in a best-selling book.
Here’s another:
A woman who we will call “Sarah” sent this note in response to my blog:
“My current CEO is my fourth boss. The previous three only gave me serious attention when I did something wrong. I left all three jobs for the same reason: the culture was mostly punitive, and it didn’t make me want to perform better.

“Now, with my current leader, I am realizing how wonderful it is to have my leader be a coach. He’s insightful about my personal and professional goals. He helps me know how I fit and that my work matters, and he provides just the right encouragement and challenges that lift my desire to perform at a whole new level. Not only do I love being accountable for myself, but I feel a great sense of pride in hitting my goals for the team as well.”
This testimony makes me want to work that that CEO. How about you?
We are off to a good start. Please consider: Who do you know who is a good leader that radiates goodness? Your insights will shape the research, spark ideas for this blog, and possibly end up in the book Goodness Pays.
Will you help?
