They routinely feel caught between customers who trust them personally, but are tired of front page industry shenanigans. (And that was BEFORE the Facebook IPO!)\u00a0 Following the meeting, several people said they were moved by my comments about our obligation to &#8216;radiate goodness.&#8217; One person shook my hand and said: &#8220;you rocked my soul.&#8221;\u00a0 It happened so fast I didn&#8217;t get to ask, &#8220;why?&#8221;\u00a0 So, I asked you and here is the summary of your responses:<\/p>\n<p>Goodness in leadership and business is compelling when followers see and feel these four concepts alive in thoughts, words and actions: <em><strong>excellence<\/strong>, <strong>generosity<\/strong>, <strong>fairness<\/strong><\/em> and <strong><em>consistency<\/em><\/strong>. Here are the words you provided, both synonyms and antonyms:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Excellence<\/strong> &#8212; Synonyms: doing things well, skillfully, personally setting a high standard.\u00a0 Antonyms: cutting corners, doing just enough to get by.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Generosity<\/strong> &#8212; Synonyms: external orientation, thinking more about customers and employees than self, giving time and money to those less fortunate, always staying positive.\u00a0 Antonyms: selfish, stingy, guarded with one&#8217;s time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fairness<\/strong> &#8212; Synonyms: honesty, transparency, clear about expectations, striving to find dignity for all people in tough situations.\u00a0 Antonyms: favoritism, misrepresentation, avoiding conflict.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Consistency<\/strong> &#8212; Synonyms: strong, dependable, reliable, candid, setting a good example.\u00a0 Antonyms: weak, unpredictable, moody.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1995\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1995\" style=\"width: 102px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/goodleadership.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/GoodnessIcon1-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1995\" title=\"GoodnessIcon\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/goodleadership.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/GoodnessIcon1-1.jpg\" width=\"102\" height=\"102\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1995\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The goodness icon, our Nike swoosh!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Good Leaders embrace the idea that followers are motivated by the inherent goodness of their leadership: they set the example for <em>excellence, generosity, fairness <\/em>and <em>consistency <\/em>in their presence.<\/p>\n<p>Drop me a note: what do you think of how our tribe has defined <em>&#8216;goodness in leadership and business?&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the coming weeks, I will dive deeper into these four concepts, and ask you to nominate leaders who radiate goodness.\u00a0 Seize the day! <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sunrise this morning reminded me of what&#8217;s possible with today &#8212; my intention is to radiate goodness.\u00a0 How about you?
